IMPACT SNAPSHOT:

Texas Water Leaders Program Adds Texas Water Leaders Alumni Committee, Rotating Member to TWF Board of Directors

November 2024 marked a milestone for this flagship leadership development program by graduating its 100th alumni. As these Texas Water Leader alumni navigate career advancement toward leadership, we see the skills and connectivity developed within their cohorts extend to the larger group as a whole. With a proven program curriculum and outstanding water champions stepping in to teach and lead year over year, our attention turns to activating the alumni network.

Providing exclusive educational and networking resources and amplifying alumni’s accomplishments and voices across the water sector are two major benefits TWF provides for TWL graduates. This year marks the onset of two exciting new opportunities to do just that. First, our TWF Board of Directors voted to implement a rotating board seat for an elected member of the past year’s TWL class. This member serves one year and brings an important voice to the conversations and decisions the board makes throughout the year. In this capacity, TWL professionals join esteemed water champions on the TWF board for hands-on learning about governance, staff support, financial responsibility, and community engagement. TWL Class of 2024 representative, Lauren Willis, is serving in the inaugural seat.

The newest initiative in strengthening the alumni network and resources is the advent of the Texas Water Leaders Alumni Committee. This representative group includes one member of each previous TWL class, elected by their peers. Together with TWF staff, these water leaders will assist with identifying and prioritizing the educational resources and social and networking events that provide greatest value to the alumni network at large. Their input ensures that TWF continues to support the next generation of water leaders in ways that are meaningful both professionally and personally as they continue their paths to leadership. The Alumni Committee for 2025 includes: Jonathan Wagenknecht, Lisa Benton, Sam Marie Hermitte, Taylor Christian, and Lauren Willis.
