Q: Who should apply to the Texas Water Leaders Program?

A: Anyone with 5-15 years experience in Texas water who is in or stepping into a position of leadership. We have candidates from all areas of the water sector – regulatory, legal, utilities, policy, nonprofit—with positions ranging from research and engineering to communications.

 

Q: When do applications close?

A: Applications to our 2024 Texas Water Leaders program close February 16, 2024.

 

Q: When will I find out if I have been selected for the program?

A: You will receive an email on March 15, 2024 informing you if you have been accepted into the Texas Water Leaders Program.

 

Q: Who reviews my application?

A: A selection committee made up of Texas Water Foundation board members and staff review applications and select candidates for the program.

 

Q: I see an online application for the program. Is anything else required to apply?

A: Yes, you must also submit a resume, statement of interest, and letter(s) of reference.

 

Q: How many letters of reference should I provide with my application materials?

A: Please provide 1-2 letters of recommendation with your application.

 

Q: What does my letter of recommendation need to include?

A: TWF asks for 1-2 letters of recommendation(s) from an employer, mentor, or colleague. Letters of recommendation do not need to be long and can be submitted by the applicant or emailed directly to TWF.

 

Q: What should my statement of interest include?

A: Your statement of interest should include your vision for the future of Texas water and the role you see yourself playing in that future. Please limit your statement of interest to 1-2 pages in length.

 

Q: What if I have applied in the past?

A: If you have applied, but were not selected we encourage you to apply again for the program!

 

Q: What is the time commitment for the program?

A: The Texas Water Leaders consists of 10 days of classroom training. Most days will take place in or near Austin, while a few days will take place virtually. In addition to classroom hours, candidates will also meet virtually with their cohort group few a few hours over the course of the program and participate in 2 professional coaching sessions. Outside of classroom time, there will be required homework that will take a few hours over the course of the program. Finally, the program also has a mentorship component and a few hours should be expected there. We do ask that all candidates commit to attending all 10 days and participating in group cohorts and personal coaching before applying to the program.
